Interfaith Shelter

First Church has been an active support congregation for Interfaith Shelter Network for over 30 years, providing meals and shelter for a two-week rotation with 8 to 10 guests. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for your generous support is even more critical. The 2021 Shelter will be hosting guests at a local Mission Valley motel and using a meal service to deliver two (2) meals per day.

  • We are requesting your financial support to help cover the costs of the motel rooms and meals (approximate cost of $115 per room/day). The number of nights we will be able to cover will depend on the money we receive from donations.
  • Please consider making a monetary donation onlineSelect "Special Gift" and write: "Interfaith Shelter Donation."
  • ISN has also requested small baggies with 1 laundry pod and $4 in quarters for guest laundry each week. The motel will furnish most of the individual hygiene items such as toothbrush/paste, soap and shampoo and each motel room is furnished with a microwave and small refrigerator.
  • There will be a Meal Train sign-up (much like last year) for addition food items; however, we do not have the link at this time. Watch for a future update with the link when it becomes available.

For the protection of our congregation, volunteer contact will be strictly limited. All donations should be made out to the Church and designated for Interfaith Shelter Network. Baggies with laundry pods and quarters may be dropped off at the Communion and Ash Wednesday drive-thru.

Thank you so much for your continued financial support - it is greatly appreciated. Blessings, Linda Thornhill and Cathy Spies, ISN Coordinators
