The Labyrinth
An ancient aid to Christian meditation in it's simplest form - a pathway where you can experience a "walking prayer." We have at First Church two labyrinths: a cloth replica of the medieval Chartres labyrinth, used for special occasions, and an outside labyrinth located at the south west corner of the Music Center buildings, available for groups or individuals to walk any day of the week. CHRISTIAN MEDITATION GROUP
MONDAYS | 6 PM | TROTTER CHAPEL
We start by listening to a different meditation, followed by 20 minutes of silence. We continue by reading a scripture or a short poem. We listen to some music to close the session. For more information, call the church office at 619-297-4366.
seasonal retreats
Occasional retreats offer the chance to gather with friends in community, to prepare for upcoming seasons in the life of the church, to deepen your personal faith. Contact: REV. Brittany Hanlin
Pilgrimages
Pilgrimages are travel expeditions, led seasonally by a Pastor. The 2024 Sankofa Pilgrimage July 1 -11, takes us to a different part of the country this year, the Northeast. Join us as we travel down the East Coast to Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. There is so much history hidden through our country, so join us on this pilgrimage of discovery, including a pre-study here at home from May 23 - July 11, 2024.
