Approved by FUMCSD Church Council, October 2026
In our seventh annual grant cycle, the Racial Justice Grants Committee recommends to the Church Council the following four grants, totaling $24,000.
The organizations were chosen in alignment with the 2026 Racial Justice Grant Focus Areas of non-profit organizations providing physical and mental health service and resources to communities of color, especially those serving vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, addiction & recovery, and families with children.
- A Healthier Me ($6,000): A Healthier Me's mission is to improve the overall health of underserved communities in San Diego by controlling or preventing chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity. A Healthier Me has worked to reduce health disparities and improve access to preventive healthcare services for communities that have historically faced barriers to care.
- Christie's Place ($6,000): Christie’s Place is a women-led nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of women, children, and families impacted by HIV throughout San Diego County. As the region’s only organization exclusively serving women living with HIV (WLWH), we provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive care that promotes healing, resilience, and long-term wellness.
- Jireh Providers ($6,000): JIREH Providers' mission is to promote generational healing through collective impact by transforming policy, people, and places. JIREH Providers is a Black-led, community-based nonprofit organization founded in response to the inequities exposed during the COVID-19 pandemic. We advance health equity by building trusted relationships and eliminating barriers to culturally responsive healthcare throughout San Diego County.
- Let's talk Black Health and Diaspora ($6,000): Let’s talk Black Health and Diaspora aims to bridge healthcare disparities between Black community members and the diaspora through education and legislative reform.
