Racial Justice Grants Committee: 2025 Grant Recommendations Totaling $35,000
Approved by FUMCSD Church Council, January 2026
In our sixth annual grant cycle, the Racial Justice Grants Committee recommends to the Church Council the following eight grants, totaling $36,000.
The organizations were chosen in alignment with the 2025 Racial Justice Grant Focus Areas of: Addressing Basic Immediate Needs, including but not limited to Food, Clothing, and Emergency Shelter.
- New Entra Casa Corporation ($6,750) New Entra Casa Corporation’s mission is to provide a safe, stable, and nurturing environment where women can heal from addiction, break cycles of incarceration and homelessness, and strengthen their roles as individuals, mothers, and community members. We serve women facing complex challenges, including justice system involvement, family separation, domestic violence, poverty, and generational trauma.
- Majdal Arab Community Center of SD ($8,000) Majdal, the Arab Community Center of San Diego (Majdal Center) is a local resource and community hub working to achieve racial, economic, and gender justice for refugee and immigrant families. We seek to empower all members of the Arab/Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) community in the San Diego area. Our mission is to support community members in overcoming social, economic, and political challenges towards self-sufficiency and advocacy.
- Growth Aspired People ($1,000) Growth Aspired People seeks to encourage, empower, and uplift women by connecting them to the resources, tools, and community they need to evolve. Our goal is to foster women's empowerment and aid them in realizing their full potential.
- Grind2gether ($1,500) Grind2gether is dedicated to empowering black and brown communities driving positive change. We are committed to fostering collaboration with other nonprofit organizations and implementing sustainable solutions that address social challenges, especially for minorities.
- Stepping Stone of San Diego ($6,750) Stepping Stone’s mission is to create, improve and deliver alcohol and other drug treatment, HIV and other health interventions, recovery, education and prevention services specializing in the challenges of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities of the San Diego region.
- Epiphany Women in Focus ($8,000) Epiphany Women in Focus’ mission is to meet the basic and immediate needs of individuals and families—providing essential support such as food, clothing, and emergency shelter—while also addressing the deeper impacts of trauma and justice involvement.
- Christie's Place ($2,000) Christie’s Place is a nonprofit, women-led social service organization in San Diego County dedicated to transforming the lives of women, children, and families impacted by HIV/AIDS.
- The San Diego LGBT Community Center ($2,000) SD LGBT Community Center’s mission is to enhance and sustain the health and well-being of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender, nonbinary, immigrant, and HIV communities to the betterment of our entire San Diego region.
