Tapestry: Beatles Piano Showcase with Chappell Kingsland

Join us for an interactive recital with pop pianist Chappell Kingsland! This all-Beatles program will feature Chappell’s own piano arrangements of The Fab Four, a sing-a-long, and an improvised medley of Beatles songs suggested by the audience.
About the artist
Chappell Kingsland is a pianist, composer, arranger, and producer based in Denver, Colorado. As a solo pianist and organist, his concerts and recordings weave together art music and popular music into a uniquely personal synthesis. His newest recording is a complete solo-piano arrangement of the Beatles album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, exploring the songs through the cross-pollination of many musical genres and virtuoso pianism. The Beatles Piano Showcase, which he has performed ten times, features intricate arrangements and spontaneous audience requests. Chappell and his wife Jennifer are the founders of Strings of Brigid, a Celtic band with harp, guitar, strings and voices; their debut album The Weaving presents richly layered arrangements of traditional Irish, Scottish, and English folksongs.
Chappell majored in Composition at the Eastman School of Music (BM) and Indiana University (MM, DM). His primary works include the operas Intoxication: America’s Love Affair with Oil and The Firebringers. A Celtic Christmas and Wild Mountains, Wild Seas are two concert-length works consisting of his arrangements of folksongs and contemporary songs for vocal soloists, choir, and instrumental ensemble, commissioned by the Arvada Chorale, Trinity Chancel Choir, and Cherry Creek Chorale; these works will premiere in Colorado in late 2026-early 2027.
Chappell is the Executive Director of the Wild Beautiful Orchestra, a collective of freelance professional and youth musicians in the Denver area. Founded in 2019, WBO produces concerts and recordings of pop/rock/world music arrangements and contemporary art music; highlights include the Halloween Show, the Youth Showcase, and Windows to Ireland. The WBO’s outreach brings a multicultural music and dance program and creative music workshops to local schools. Future projects include an all-Beatles concert for vocalists, rock band, and chamber orchestra.
