Tenebrae, meaning “darkness,” is an extended meditation on the passion of Christ. As the Passion story is told, intertwined with anthems sung by Chancel Choir and congregational hymns, 15 candles are extinguished, one by one, signifying the growing darkness of the time when Christ, the Light of the World, was taken and crucified.
