Kids and Families at First Church
Kids First is here to introduce your child to the love of Christ, experience worship, explore the Bible and learn to serve the community. Kids First will support you as a parent and guardian, help you connect with others on the same journey of parenthood. Through Kids First you'll find programs that allow you and your family to grow in your Christian faith.
Welcome to Kids First Sunday School!
Bring the kids down to Mission Valley for a vibrant Sunday morning at First Church!
pre-k, infants and toddlers
- Sundays 8:40 AM - 12 PM. This program offers a loving and nurturing environment in the "Multipurpose Room" located in the Children's Growing Center.
Kids First (elementary Students trough 5th grade)

Join us on Sundays at 9 AM in the sanctuary for "A Time with Children," before heading over to The Cove located on the bottom floor in the UMC-building, for Sunday School where a fun and dynamic brand of faith formation and a greater understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ takes place until 10 AM. On Communion Sundays, we ask that you pick up "Kids First" from The Children's Music Room below the sanctuary.
- 5th Sunday of the month. NO SUNDAY SCHOOL children and youth are encouraged to worship in the sanctuary with their families.

Become an Acolyte
GRADES 4 - 12
Acolytes assist in sanctuary worship services year-round. They lead the choir processional, light the altar candles, receive the offering, assist in baptisms, extinguish the altar candles, and assist at special services wherever needed. Acolytes learn leadership and cooperation skills as well as symbolism in our worship services. If you have questions please contact Demmie in the church office 619-297-4366 x138.
