Rayna Shafter

Secondary Voices Accompanist

Rayna Shafter is a soprano, pianist, and vocal music director based in San Diego. She is currently a Choral Scholar at the University of San Diego, and will graduate this spring with a BA in Music Teaching and Learning. At First Church, Rayna has served as a Soprano Choral Scholar since 2024 and has taken on leadership roles including Assistant Director and Accompanist for Jubilee Singers, Assistant Director for Masterwork Chorale, and most recently, Accompanist for Secondary Voices. Outside of her extensive engagement at First Church, she is a passionate member of her hometown theater community on Kaua'i, Hawai'i. This summer, she served as the Music Director for Hawai'i Children's Theater's musical, Be More Chill. Rayna has a love for teaching and also provides private voice, piano, and songwriting lessons to students of all ages. As a performer, she has recently done work with San Diego choral ensemble Sacra Profana. She is also excited to perform with Bach Collegium San Diego this fall. Rayna is honored to officially be a part of the music staff at First Church!
