2023-24 Music Series: Spring Choral Concert Handel's "Messiah"

SPRING CHORAL CONCERT
GEORGE FRIDERIC HANDEL MESSIAH PARTS II & III (PASSION & RESURRECTION)
SATURDAY, MAY 4, 2024 | 4 PM | SANCTUARY | OFFERING | Free childcare

This musical masterpiece will be sung by the FUMC Masterwork Choral, FUMC Chancel Choir, the USD Concert Choir, and will be conducted by Brian Lustig. The combined choir will be accompanied by members of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.

Solos will be sung by FUMCSD Section Leaders: Lauren Zinke, soprano; Pat McAfee, mezzo-soprano; Timmy Simpson, tenor; and Sean Smith, bass.

While many mistakenly view Messiah as solely an Advent or Christmas piece of music, the entire piece tells the full story of Christ. This concert features parts 2 and 3 exclusively. Part 2 covers the passion of Christ and part 3 focuses on the resurrection of the dead.
