Location: First United Methodist Church of San Diego, 2111 Camino del Rio South, San Diego, CA US 92108

Room: Trotter Chapel

Come hear an offering of unaccompanied Gregorian Chant and Choral Polyphony by an ensemble of men known as Schola Pacifica, under the direction of Associate Director of Music, Stephen Price, and Director Emeritus Max Chodos. The ensemble will present a half-hour concert of familiar chants and polyphonic chant-based works from the Renaissance period.

Schola Pacifica was founded in 1993 by Br. Karl Nielson, OSB, to perform and keep alive the tradition of Gregorian chant. The men of Schola Pacifica are an ecumenical group of the finest choral singers in San Diego. They come together from many religious backgrounds (Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish) with a love of singing as our common denominator. Since their founding, the ensemble has sung throughout California and the Pacific Northwest to popular acclaim in venues such as the Capistrano Valley Symphony, Mt. St Mary's College (Los Angeles), Mission San Juan Capistrano, and Mt. Angel Abbey, Oregon.

Schola Pacifica has recorded three CDs: "Best Loved Gregorian Chants", "Anno Domini" and "Trinitas." Listen to samples here...
