The First United Methodist Foundation of San Diego
The First United Methodist Foundation of San Diego, a California nonprofit religious corporation, is the charitable foundation of the First United Methodist Church of San Diego.
The Church’s charge conference authorized the Foundation’s establishment and the Foundation’s Board of Directors are elected by the Church’s Annual Charge Conference. While the Foundation is intended to last in perpetuity, if the Foundation were ever dissolved, its assets would revert to the Church.
The Foundation’s Articles of Incorporation, filed with the California secretary of State on June 26, 1998, state the Foundation’s mission, which is to:
- Provide donations to the First United Methodist Church of San Diego, California, in support of the aims and activities of the Church;
- Manage the assets of the Foundation, including endowment funds, derived from gifts, contributions, donations, grants or bequests to the Foundation, in a gainful and prudent manner and in keeping with any special conditions applicable to each gift, contribution, donation, grant or bequest; and
- Actively promote the growth of the Foundation’s assets through a program for soliciting gifts, contributions, donations, grants, bequests and devises to the Foundation.
