About Handel's Messiah

It is, by far, the most beloved and often-performed major oratorio. Due to its powerful message of God's revelation of himself to us through Jesus Christ and the way Handel sets the libretto in dramatic Baroque style, it has stood the test of time to be regarded as one of the greatest works of Western art. Over the centuries, since it's 1742 world premiere in Dublin, Ireland, it has been performed around the world in concert halls and churches, by professionals and amateurs, by small choral and instrumental ensembles to very large performing forces.
